Boasting beautiful views of the Bride valley, Mealagulla Allotments are located about five miles from ballincollig town, in Knockane, Ovens, Co. Cork.





Plenty of help available here, firstly your plot is ready ploughed to start.

You can also have your plot rotovated and drills/beds made up for you upon request. Delivery of farmyard manure can also be arranged to feed your beds. :)

Typical size of plots: Any size available in multiples of 10 sq metres.

Charges: Please contact allotment owner.

Fruit tree planting allowed: Yes, the site has a twenty acre orchard area. Dwarfing  rootstock only.

Sheds/greenhouses allowed: Yes, upon clearance with allotment owner.

Help available on site: yes, your plot is ready ploughed to start. You can also have your plot rotovated and drills/beds made up for you upon request. Delivery of farmyard manure can also be arranged.

Secure storage: yes, each alotmenteer gets their own locker.

On-site car parking: Yes

Other amenities: Water is on tap between every second plot, wheelbarrows are provided, and other tools which the normal gardener would not own, ie crowbar, sledgehammer etc.

Toilets and tea room on site. barbecue/picnic area planned for near future

An area is available suited to grow your own/sponsor a tree Christmas tree growing.

Plans to erect a polytunnel where you can rent a space for your potting etc.

Barbecue/picnic area also planned for the near future.

The site owner would like to encourage other interests such as keeping hens,  beekeeping, goats, sheep and other livestock, etc.  Suggestions welcome.

Directions: From Cork city, heading west, take Ballincollig bypass road and take last exit before EMC (signposted for Kilumney) take first left ( signposted for kilumney).

Follow the road until you come to a T junction and turn right ( signposted for Kilumney), follow road until you pass Kilumney inn on your left.

Continue west in the direction of Aherla and take the third road to your left ( blue community alert sign facing you), then drive up the hill and to the first farmyard on the left at the top of the hill with red sheds and concrete drive.

This is where the allotments are located (as a landmark there is a sign directly across the road from the allotments for “Best Buddies” boarding kennels).
