The other idea behind setting up Amberley Allotments was, besides growing your own, to create a community where people exchange seeds, plants and advice and a have a bit of craic! Amberley Allotments are situated in Rochestown and are convenient to everyone who lives at that side of the Cork city.

Have you heard of the movie “The bucket list”? It details the trip taken by two men who work their way through a list of things they wish to experience before they die. The “bucket list” in the title was a roster of things to do before the movies main character “kicks the bucket”.

Weeds, a pre-emptive strike.

As I strolled out towards the veg garden this morning, I bumped into some old friends who come for a visit each spring.

I smiled towards Mrs tulip, tipped my cap to Mr Crocus, waved happily across to the daffodil clan, then it all went wrong as I was stopped in my tracks by some unwelcome visitors.

You know the sort, someone you know see, you’ll give them the time of day, but would rather they did not visit.
